Milton Waddams: [talking on the phone] "And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire... "

Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) works for a big corporate computer firm named Initech, another one of those companies where they do a lot of business, but you're never exactly sure what it is they do. Peter slaves 9-5 in a small cubicle fixing software code. Livingston perfectly captures Peter's complacency, then his frustration, and finally his everyman disinterest in his job. "Office Space", written, directed and produced by Mike Judge, was one of the best comedies of 1999, and that's mainly because the plot is actually as important than the comedy itself, and the comedy is based on jokes that while being funny, they aren't stupid or gross. Office Space is funniest when Judge focuses on the rampant pettiness and politicking in the workplace.

"I could set the building on fire."

Milton Waddams! Probably one of the funniest characters in the history of cinema. In an indie gem, like "Office Space" is, he feels almost too cartoonish to be true but he will deliver... Oh yes.

"Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler..."

So about the movie. "Office Space" is hilarious. It has got intelligent humor, great characters and something some of us can relate to. Office work. Peter Gibbons decides that he woun't take another brain numbing day at work and tries to get fired. Well.. he gets promoted instead.

I've seen "Office Space" several times now and the more I watch it, the more I love it. And I'm not even an office worker. But if you want to see something special, something hilarious, something Milton... "Office Space" is the movie for you.

"The ratio of people to cake is too big."

So dead on it's scary. Hilarious understated performance from Gary Cole. Totally deserves the cult status.

If you've ever been a desk jockey, this movie will speak to you. About what's wrong with our lives today, and how less complications can lead to true happiness.
